The Simple Standards System

Build Your 12 Standards

Standards are the personal rules of your life. They don't change because of feelings, environment, mood, or stress. This tool walks you through the exact system Daniel uses with his coaching clients.

"Show me your standards and habits, I'll show you your future."
Step 1 of 4

Choose Your 4 Quadrants

What are the 4 most important areas of your life that you have full responsibility over? There's no right or wrong answer. These are YOUR areas.

Coach's Note: Don't copy someone else's quadrants. A few years back I tried to copy Craig's "no swearing" standard. I failed every time. Why? Because it wasn't meaningful to me. Your standards are YOUR standards. Pick the areas that actually matter to you.

Step 2 of 4

Write Your Mission Statements

Write 2-3 sentences on why each quadrant matters to you. This gives your standards purpose. Don't overthink it. Write from the gut.

Coach's Note: Your mission statement is the "why" behind your standards. When things get hard and you want to break your rules, this is what pulls you back. Make it personal. Make it real.
Step 3 of 4

Define Your 12 Standards

Create 3 standards for each quadrant. These can be habits, behaviors, or core values. Short, clear, non-negotiable. These are the rules of your life.

Coach's Note: Think of standards as personal rules, not goals. "Exercise daily" is a standard. "Lose 20 pounds" is a goal. Standards are about who you are, not what you're chasing. Keep them short enough to remember without looking.
Step 4 of 4

Name Your Trust Tribe

Who are 3-5 people you trust to hold you accountable? Share your standards with them. Ask them to call you out when you slip. This is what makes standards stick.

Coach's Note: Accountability is the secret ingredient. Standards without accountability are just wishes. Pick people who respect you enough to be honest with you. Your spouse, a business partner, a close friend, a coach.

Your Standards Manifesto

This is your personal contract. Save it. Print it. Post it where you'll see it every day. Send it to your Trust Tribe. These are the rules of your life.

How to use this:
Print it and post it on your bathroom mirror, office wall, or fridge.
Save it to your phone and set it as your lock screen.
Send it to your Trust Tribe and ask them to hold you to it.
Review it every morning as part of your routine.

You've got your standards.
Now the question is: can you keep them?

Most people write their standards and forget them within a week. The ones who don't have a system that keeps the standards in front of them every day. That's exactly what The Standards System app is built for: set your non-negotiables, check in daily, and get coached by an AI trained on how Daniel coaches. Free to start.
